I have used various combinations of colors, beginning with the lightest and working toward the darkest of shades neglecting the black marker. As easy as it woud be to use black I find it flatens the final product, I wan't the colors to speak for themselves. With a combination of color masking and color manipulation I can sometimes force the color and sometimes let the color find its own path. I have used both silk and canvas as the foundations for these pieces. Most take between 40 and 50 hours to compose, a few have taken as many as 130 hours.

Having played a bit with marker on my first piece and really just seeing the tip of the iceberg; I set it aside for a bit. Due to an assignment my fifth grader had, a new door was opened. This turned out to be a great opportunity to expand on what I had already discovered utilizing marker. Using a variation of color mixes and blenders I was able to soften edges and highlight detail. Flowers and landscapes, so far, have offered the most brilliant colors. As I expand my knowledge base I know that detail in texture will soon follow. I hope you enjoy my work. Thank you.
